Our Moon's Mission Hundreds of Queenslanders ran through Brisbane to rally awareness and funds to help us cure SPG56

What an amazing day! We are still reeling from the absolute joy of Saturday’s incredible event….so many amazing people and so many smiling faces at the event where three Brisbane Businesses rallied hundreds of runners for a charity fun-run.

Starting at Newstead in the rain, nothing could stop the army of support that then ran, laughing through the streets of inner Brisbane to Southbank Parklands in order to help save our little girl Tallulah Moon Whitrod who is suffering from SPG56.

A heartfelt thank you to the many sponsors and to all those who ran, skipped, hopped and rolled with us and if you want a quick look at how it rolled, check out this film created by the legends at Reed Media.

Brisbane’s UME owner and UNFIT Run Club founder Cory Wittleton pulled the event together with friend and event partner Nodo Donuts. We were absolutely blown away by the enormous support we got from hundreds of members of running club and supporters across the Eastern seaboard! Tallulah even had some VIP friends come up from NSW and down from Coolum for the run with us- rain, hail or shine!

We are blessed. Events like this one have literally sprung into life, created by inspired people who hear about Our Moon’s Mission, and want to help in their own unique way. It’s beautiful.

For Cory, he said he was inspired to host this charity event after hearing Chris speak at a business conference about our daughter’s currently incurable disease. When he learnt we were fighting to find a cure through genetic research and that we’d started Genetic Cures for Kids Inc., he wanted to support us. Quite simply, he took what he had- an epic club of runners- and called them to action to help make it magic! What a guy!

Cory said UNFIT run club members from the Gold Coast travelled from all over to support the event, along with several other Brisbane based run clubs. In addition, multiple businesses supported us through gifted services and donations for the major raffle, which was made incredibly fun by our volunteer MC and comedian, Mel Little! That woman is brilliant!

The wonderful founder of Nodo Donuts Kate Williams also gave participants free coffee, juice and donuts as well as an epic location to celebrate after the 5km charity run!

We were so humbled by all the love we felt flowing toward our family and our charity. We met so many new friends and supporters, especially to all those at UNFIT RUN CLUB and Nodo who went above and beyond to raise the awareness and much needed funds to help us on our mission to find the cure for SPG56. The latest tally is over $5,000 in donations to the raffle AND a mind blowing $7,000 donated by those that joined on the day!

100% of the proceeds from the epic “Run for Our Moon’s Mission” went to Genetic Cures for Kids, which is funding results-driven research to find a cure for the rare genetic disease SPG56.

With momentum like this, and all the other wonderful charity events transpiring for our mission, this moon-shot really is possible!

Huge thanks to everyone who came along, from Our Moon’s Mission, the team from GC4K, committed to finding a cure for SPG56 through dedicated, results-driven research.
